In the atmosphere, Carbon is connected to some oxygen in a gas form called Carbon dioxide. The Carbon Cycle is how carbon in all different from another forms moves between plants, animals, the oceans, and the atmosphere, even rocks. Carbon is an element that found all over the world and every living thing have a carbon. Carbon is really important to living things.
Oxygen is another element that’s in the air that we breathe. When carbon and oxygen are together, they form colorless gas called Carbon dioxide. When we burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil, or natural gas, or even when we drive a car, or using electricity, we are producing carbon dioxide, and carbon dioxide goes to atmosphere. When it’s in atmosphere, plants can take in carbon dioxide and sunlight to make their own food, this kind of plants are called the producers, and their process is called photosynthesis. In this process, carbon becomes part of the plant, and plant releases oxygen. When plants die and are buried under layers of earth for million years, they become fossil fuel, like a coal and natural gas. By burning fossil fuels people are adding carbon to the atmosphere, that’s why the amount of carbon dioxide in atmosphere is increasing, which is causing global climate change.
Carbon which is in atmosphere later transfers to animals that are consumers who are the one’s that are eating another animal for food. When plants and animals die, the CO2 is released to atmosphere as the organism decompose or breaking down. For example: Mushrooms and fungi’s are decomposers because they grow out of dead plants and animals.
Some animals like lion, tiger, etc are the non-photosynthetic creatures of the planet, which means that they are not able to create their own food, and instead they eat plants or other animals. Using the energy of the sun, plants make sugars. Every living thing , every creature on the planet uses sugars and starches created by plants. The sugars and starches that animals eat are broken down by a process metabolism. The results are energy, water, and carbon dioxide molecule.
As the people releasing too much more carbon into the atmosphere, scientists believe that the it’s a part of causing earth to warm up. In fact, ice cores like glacier show us that there’s now more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than there has been in the last 420,000 years.
